Our vineyards

The Pfalz has an unusually mild, Mediterranean climate. In the west, it is protected by the Haardt Mountains from cold winds and rain. The broad expanse of the Rhine plain lies to the east.

In an average year there are about 1,800 hours of sunshine. Almonds, sweet chestnuts and figs thrive here, as well as grapes that yield powerful red wines and wonderfully fruity white and rosé wines.

The Pfalz wine-growing region is known for its diversity of soil types. These range from light sandy soils to heavy loam or marl. As is traditional here, our vineyard holdings consist of many small, individual parcels situated in the following wine towns:

Deidesheim
Forst
Wachenheim
Friedelsheim
Bad Dürkheim

Because each of the various vineyards has its own unique soil structure, we are able to select sites that are optimal for each individual grape variety.
